Ethical Beauty

The EU Costmetics Regulation adopted in 2013 banned the testing of finished cosmetic products and ingredients on animals and prohibits the marketing of same.  Companies can still test, market and sell products that are tested on animals in non-EU markets.  In order to ensure that you are not supporting a company that still practices a cruel animal testing regime, look for the leaping bunny or PETA's pink rabbit logos.  These marks are given to companies that do not test on animals and that have certified that their supply chain is also cruelty free.

These certifications are for beauty and household products only.  There is still testing being done on animals throughout Europe for medical research some of which is vital and some of which is not (cancer research v. botox testing).
